ISD 549 reminds parents and students that masks are still mandatory on school campuses through the last school day of the 2020-21 academic year, per directive from the Minnesota Department of Education.
Yesterday afternoon the Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced updated guidelines for masking. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced the end of the masking mandate for the state of Minnesota. However, the mask mandate will still continue for schools in the state of Minnesota.
The new executive order from Governor Walz states that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal or territorial laws, rules and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.
However, Minnesota’s Safe Learning Plan, along with the existing face covering guidance for schools and child care settings, remain in effect, despite new recommendations from the CDC which were released on Thursday.
