    Home Middle School

    Welcome to

    Prairie Wind Middle School!

"Greetings from Prairie Wind Middle School in beautiful Perham, Minnesota and welcome to our website! It is our hope that you find our homepage useful to help answer your questions, learn about some of our philosophies and gain insight into the unique educational facility of our middle school.

We feel a gem for a district our size is Prairie Wind Middle School that is specifically designed for “tweeners”, that unique group of students who are too old for elementary and not yet old enough for high school. Our middle school meets the needs of middle school students through exploratory curriculum as well as physical design. The middle school is built with the “house” concept, where each grade is separated from grades above and below, and where teachers work daily in grade level teams to deliver integrated curriculum for that complex and unique being, your middle schooler. This house concept fosters a closer relationship between staff and students and between classmates.

Overall, we feel we have a lot to offer at Prairie Wind Middle School and we have established a positive reputation. We take great pride in the fact that we work hard to create a climate that allows students to feel comfortable the moment they walk in the door.

Consider coming over to take a closer look at our beautiful facility and surroundings. Stop by for a tour of the building and we can answer any questions you might have."

    COUNSELING INFORMATION

Learn what counseling information we have available to our PWMS Students.

Along with a part time psychologist and a social worker, Prairie Wind has a full time counselor who provides both academic counseling and personal guidance. The building also has a student assistance team made up of teachers, administration, and the counselor who meet weekly to discuss possible interventions for students who are experiencing academic, social, and family difficulties.

All students study core courses in math, language arts, social studies/geography, science, and reading. In addition, students take classes in computer, wellness, health-PE, industrial technology (Project Lead the Way), music, physical education, Spanish, band, and choir.
