    Home Middle School

    Welcome to

    Prairie Wind Middle School!

Hello and welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

I hope this letter finds you well and brimming with anticipation for the upcoming school year. As we gear up to commence another incredible academic journey at PWMS, I want to extend my warmest welcome back to each and every one of you!

First and foremost, I want you to know that we missed you during the break. The hallways felt a tad quieter without your laughter and energy. But now, it's time to reunite, catch up with old friends, and make new ones. Middle school is an exciting time filled with fresh opportunities for growth, learning, and creating lasting memories.
At PWMS, we firmly believe that relationships are paramount in the educational experience for every student. Our goal for each student is to discover a passion that aligns with their unique needs and cultivate resilience in the face of adversity. Some children excel intellectually, while others possess emotional depth, and many are endowed with creative ingenuity. Here at PWMS, we wholeheartedly support each child's needs, aiming to provide an experience they will cherish for a lifetime. We deeply value your overall well-being and happiness. Our school constitutes a supportive community where everyone's distinctive qualities are celebrated, and inclusivity is treasured. Should you ever require someone to confide in, our counselors and faculty are here to listen.

We strongly encourage you to engage in extracurricular activities, clubs, and sports. These not only offer opportunities to explore your interests but also facilitate the development of essential skills like teamwork, leadership, and time management. Furthermore, they provide a wonderful avenue to forge friendships with those who share your passions. As you step into this new school year, remember that growth often transpires outside of your comfort zone. Embrace challenges, pose questions, and seek novel experiences without hesitation. This is your moment to shine, and we wholeheartedly believe in your capacity to achieve remarkable things.

    Sincerely,
    Jim Kennedy, Principal

    COUNSELING INFORMATION

Learn what counseling information we have available to our PWMS Students.

Along with a part time psychologist and a social worker, Prairie Wind has a full time counselor who provides both academic counseling and personal guidance. The building also has a student assistance team made up of teachers, administration, and the counselor who meet weekly to discuss possible interventions for students who are experiencing academic, social, and family difficulties.

All students study core courses in math, language arts, social studies/geography, science, and reading. In addition, students take classes in computer, wellness, health-PE, industrial technology (Project Lead the Way), music, physical education, Spanish, band, and choir.
