Good afternoon ISD 549 Students, Parents, and Residents,
As you may have heard this afternoon, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced the decision to extend Distance Learning to the end of the school year for school districts across Minnesota. For Perham-Dent Public and Private Schools, that date is Friday, May 22. While this decision was anticipated by many, and may come with little surprise, we want you to know that our school districts will continue to provide our students and families with our best efforts as we make the best out of these unfortunate and disappointing circumstances. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your son/daughter’s respective buildings with any questions, concerns, and needs you may have throughout this extension. Please note that May 1 and May 4 will be professional development days for our staff, therefore no instruction will be provided for students on those two days.
With this decision now made, and knowing students will not be returning to our buildings at any point this school year, further decisions can now be made regarding some of our traditional end of the year events such as Graduation, Prom, Athletics, etc. We will update you as those decisions are carefully thought out and made.
Please note that no changes will be made to our Meals and Essential Child Care programs during this extension. Those programs will continue to be offered as they have for the past several weeks.
Yours in education,
Mitch Anderson
Perham Superintendent
