Dear ISD #549 Families and Students:
As you have probably heard by now, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz issued a “Stay at Home” executive order to take place starting Friday, March 27th at 11:59 P.M. until Friday, April 10th. Each of you and your families will certainly be impacted by this executive order in many ways in your daily lives, but I want to share with you the impact it will have on our school district at this time.
As part of Governor Walz’s executive order, the Distance Learning model of education that our school staff has been busy preparing for the last week will be extended to at least April 30th. Our teachers, support staff, and administration have been preparing for this anticipated extension, and we are fully prepared to unveil our Distance Learning plans with you this week. You should have received information from your child’s school (office, teachers, etc) on this delivery. Our plans per building will be available on the district website (www.perham.k12.mn.us) by Friday of this week. Do not hesitate to call our school offices for further information. If you have not returned information on internet limitations or meals delivery, please do so immediately.
While teachers have been preparing and planning for Distance Learning, our support staff has already stepped up to the plate by providing care for children of families of emergency workers at the elementary school. They’ve also prepared and distributed over 1,000 meals per day for children 18 and under through our distribution locations spread throughout the district. These services and offerings will continue to operate as they have for the past week throughout the “Stay at Home” order. We encourage all families and students to take advantage of the nutritious meals being served. The “Stay at Home” order does not prevent parents and students from traveling to these locations for meal pick-up. Information on both child care for emergency workers and meals can be found on our website and facebook page as well.
I want to thank all of you for your cooperation with the schools during these challenging times. We will continue to provide updates on distance learning, child care, and nutritious meals on our website and facebook page.
Take care,
Mitch Anderson
Superintendent
