At the meeting of the Incident Command Team on Monday, March 1 it was decided for Perham Schools to begin full in-person learning on Monday, March 8.
The Independent School District 549 Board gave the Incident Command Team the power to make those decisions without school board approval. Members of the ISD 549 school board serve on the command team as well.
The transition to full in person learning would eliminate the need for the Wednesday planning day, making that a full instructional day in person.
“We are excited to be headed back to our traditional K-12 in person learning model for the first time since last March. Masks, social distancing and other safety measures will continue to be a part of our daily routines, but the local and county Covid numbers are at a spot that allows us the opportunity to keep getting closer to normalcy. Thank you to all of our students, staff, parents and community members for their continued support and flexibility over the last twelve months.”
Parents still have the option for distance learning through Jacket Academy if they deem that is the safest option for their child.
However, these models are subject to change in case of an increase or surge in COVID-19 cases in the Perham, Dent and surrounding areas. The decision was made under the guidance of the Minnesota Department of Education, Minnesota Department of Health and Otter Tail County Public Health Department.
The school implores people to continue following the Minnesota Department of Health’s COVID-19 Prevention measures. Those measures can be found at https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/prevention.html.
Also, families can follow the status of COVID-19 in the school’s by visiting the Perham-Dent Schools COVID-19 dashboard at https://perhamschools.org/covid-19-dashboard/
